Queen & Illustrator

Did you know Queen Margrethe II of Denmark is an illustrator? She is also a painter and clothing designer. Queen Margrethe II illustrated the Danish edition of The Lord of the Rings under the pseudonym  Ingahild Grathmer . When our tour guide shared this fact I squealed with excitement. If you ever get the chance to travel to Copenhagen, do it. There are  free walking tours where you learn amazing facts, history and culture. 

Find Your Park Exhibit

This exhibit was held June-August 2016. It celebrated the 100th birthday of the National Park Service. I was honored to be a part of the first student exhibition at the Southern Utah Museum of Art .

BFA Student Exhibition

There is still time to see my artwork at the Southern Utah Museum of Art . It will be on display until December 15th. Free admission. Opened Tues-Sat from 12-6pm. I was also interviewed by Iron County Today for the event. Read the article .

Dan Holland to Speak Tonight

Milton Bee by Dan Holland Dan Holland , an animation director for Pixar will be speaking at the Southern Utah Museum of Art tonight @7. I'm excited to learn from him and see his work.

Cello & Jaguar

Inspired by Zootopia & Benedict Cumberbatch Benedict Cumberbatch's voice has been described as "a jaguar inside a cello". I'm not so sure about that, but I do imagine him voicing my character.

Tribute to Lost Sketchbook

I lost my sketchbook on the train in Europe. It contained most of my Inktober illustrations. I die a little every time I think about it zooming about the countryside without me. Here are a few of the illustrations I had taken pictures of before I lost it. I'm planning on redoing the Inktober challenge to see if this will help ease my mourning over the loss of my sketchbook.

Student Project 2016

I had a blast creating a logo, business cards, stationary, and product labels for  Later Acres Farm . They're learning a new skill by making homemade goats milk soap. Later Acres also sells fresh goats milk, honey and eggs. Follow them on Facebook .

Portrait and Figure Painting

The following images are from my Portrait and Figure Painting class. My professor,  Randall Cabe , is a very talented painter and I was lucky enough to be his student. We used different techniques to help us learn values, light and shadows, shape and form.Classes were 3 hours long twice a week. Some paintings took several class periods This was my  very first day  painting from a live model. . Week 1 Day 2  Used burnt umber or raw sienna to create the darks and a shop towel to create the highlights. Week 2 Day 1 Week 2  Day 2 Week 3 Day 1  Used grays only to learn how to create value Week 3  Day 2 Week 4  Day 1 Week 4 Day 2 We started to use a limited palette Week 5 Day 1 Week 5 Day 2 This model was hard to work with.
